“If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”
John 4:10 NLT
“Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
John 8:11 NKJV
“Follow me!”
Matthew 9:9 NIV
“Healthy people don’t need a doctor – sick people do… For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
Matthew 9:12-13 NLT
Jesus invites us to follow Him. We don’t have to clean ourselves up first. We can’t. Only a life-giving relationship with Jesus can change our hearts. Only He can heal our deep wounds and empower us to overcome sinful habits. He didn’t reject the woman at the well because she had five husbands and is now shacking up with some other guy. He offered her Living Water. Jesus didn’t condemn the woman caught in adultery. He acknowledged her sin and confronted her accusers with their own stuff. He empowered her to go and sin no more. Jesus didn’t look at Matthew with contempt the same way the others did. They saw him as a tax-collector who betrayed his own people. Jesus saw him as a precious soul worth saving. He took a lot of flack for reaching out to some pretty messed up people. That didn’t stop Him. They were the ones He came for.
There are many others in Scripture who were suffering through no fault of their own. The woman with the issue of blood… The demon possessed boy who convulsed and was thrown into the fire… The man laying at the pool of Bethesda for 38 years… Society tends to overlook people like them. Jesus doesn’t. He noticed them. He met them in their struggle. He brought healing.
If you can relate to the many people in Scripture that were bound by sin or suffering, there is hope. Come to our next session of Living Waters. We understand. We’ve been there. Our leadership team will walk with you to Jesus. Instead of condemnation, you’ll find forgiveness. Instead of despair, you’ll find hope. Our next Living Waters group is starting soon and registration is now open. Call us today at 586.739.5114. Let Jesus heal your heart.
